We knew it was coming, but it’s awesome nonetheless: Uncharted 2 will feature multiplayer.
Yes, you heard that right; the sequel to the celebrated PlayStation 3 action spectacular is venturing into the online arena. And, even better, you’ll be able to get your hands on it as early as June 3. A Kotaku reader snapped a picture of a Best Buy pre-order box for inFamous, which says that every retail copy of the game will include a voucher to download the Uncharted 2: Among Theives multiplayer beta.
This is undoubtedly the mystery announcement that Sony planned to reveal on Monday.
Sony is clearly emulating Microsoft’s ‘Crackdown’ strategy; Microsoft included the Halo 3 beta on retail copies of Crackdown, which went on to sell over a million units. It’s funny, actually, just how similar the two situations are. Both full games are original, open-world action games with a focus on super powers, and both betas are for high-profile sequels.
If we had to guess, Sony’s strategy will work like a charm, just like it did for Microsoft.
