Actor Tony Dalton, who portrays the father of Joel and Tommy in HBO’s The Last of Us series, has announced that he has joined Naughty Dog‘s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet after impressing creator Neil Druckmann on the set of the post-apocalyptic drama.
The character of Joel’s father did not appear in the games and is a new addition to the series, with during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Druckmann confirmed that Dalton was his “first choice” to play the character. “He immediately came to mind,” said the Naughty Dog executive of Dalton’s role in Intergalactic. “I just offered it to him on the spot.”

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was announced at The Game Awards 2024 and is the first new IP from the studio in over a decade. Back in March, Druckmann confirmed that the team at Naughty Dog were now playing the game in the office, and described it as ‘incredible.’ The game is still a long way off from release however, and isn’t expected to arrive until 2027 at the earliest.
