Guitar Hero PS5. The Guitar Hero franchise was a commercial behemoth around 17 years ago, with Activision’s music rhythm series seeing multiple entries and spin-offs across PS2 & PS3 helmed by numerous developers, including Harmonix and Vicarious Vision. There’s been nothing from the series in quite a few years now, as its success waned towards the end of the PS3-era, with the last game being 2015’s Guitar Hero Live on PS4. However, is Guitar Hero available to play on PS5? Let’s find out!
Is Guitar Hero On PS5?
As of 2026, there are still no Guitar Hero PS5 games available and we haven’t heard of any current plans to resurrect the franchise for new systems. There hasn’t been a new Guitar Hero game in about a decade, and while PS5 is obviously backwards compatible with many PS4 games, Guitar Hero Live no longer works as its online functionality was disabled.
The PS3 Guitar Hero games also don’t work with the console as it is not backwards compatible with PS3 software. As such, there’s no way to play a Guitar Hero game on PS5. We can only hope that the series will be revived at some point with a brand new entry, or perhaps a remaster. Will there ever be a Guitar Hero PS5 game? We’ll keep you updated!
UPDATE (Feb. 2026) –
RedOctane Games has officially unveiled Stage Tour for PC and consoles, which is labelled a spiritual successor to Guitar Hero!
