Rebellion Entertainment is beavering away on a new instalment in the Sniper Elite franchise, according to the LinkedIn profile of an ADIA Entertainment employee.
rNothing else was revealed on the upcoming stealth-based shooter, although we do know that Rebellion does have something to announce very soon, hinting that a formal reveal for Sniper Elite 4 is only just around the corner.
ADIA Entertainment is significant due to the fact they have collaborated with numerous developers on various major franchises, such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, BioShock, and Hitman.
Speaking with VideoGamer, Rebellion’s Jason Kingsley commented, "To be honest we’re flattered that people are actively searching out for a new Sniper Elite title, and we certainly don’t mind being mentioned next to projects like Black Ops 3 and Unreal! However the person in question doesn’t work for Rebellion and we haven’t announced a new entry in the Sniper Elite series.”
"Last year we celebrated the Sniper Elite series’ 10th birthday and 10 millionth sale, so our IP is still hugely important to both Rebellion and independent UK games development. We’re actually gearing up to announce a new Rebellion game soon, so expect to hear more from us before GDC!” he added.
Sniper Elite 3 is the latest entry in the series to see a release, hitting PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 back in summer 2014. It was followed by the spin-off, Zombie Army Trilogy, in early 2015.
If Rebellion is indeed gearing up for an announcement around GDC, then we won’t have to wait long as the event takes place March 14-16.
