Islands of Nyne, the new first-person Battle Royale game, has just launched on Steam Early Access and is due to be confirmed with a release date on PS4 and Xbox One. Developed on Unreal Engine 4, the Islands of Nyne PS4 version is in the works, though developer Define Human Studio is not yet ready to announce a firm launch date.
The action takes place in a sci-fi universe. Like other Battle Royale games like PUBG and Fortnite, players drop onto a map and need to find weapons to stay alive. In Islands of Nyne, there’s a plasma field which closes down the field of play, and plenty of gear to pick up to aid survival.
The developer says that the game is designed for competitive gamers, and will be exploit-free and focus on skill-drive progression. You’ll be able to play solo, team up in duos or head into battle in four-player squads.
