It’s Official: Michael Jordan to grace cover of NBA 2K11

In more sports video game news today, it was officially revealed that Michael Jordan will grace the cover of 2K Sports’ NBA 2K11, an announcement that likely surprises very few fans. ESPN first pointed to the basketball legend as the new cover athlete last week, but CNBC confirmed the deal today.

Jordan and other legends will likely be playable in the upcoming title. Jordan said, “I’m looking forward to getting back out on the court, virtually.”

“We’ve made a lot of progress over the past 10 years, but we know we have the best NBA video game ever made here,” Jason Argent, vice president of Marketing for 2K Sports, told CNBC. “So we thought to ourselves how can we embody that and there was only one person on that list who we wanted to have and that was Michael Jordan. Actually getting this done is the most ridiculous win of all-time.”

The game is set to hit store shelves on Oct. 5
