Many gamers have complained about the PS3 price so was a 100 dollar price drop good enough for Sony?
Jack Tretton of Sony says the answer to the question is yes with sales reaching nearly double the previous. During the E3 conference Tretton stated that the sell of the 60GB PS3 has witnessed a spark in sales in 5 top leader retailers.
“Since Monday, sales of the 60GB PS3 have doubled at our top five retailers."
With this exciting news Tretton also explained that Sony now plans to ship 11 million consoles to market by the end of this year.
Even though Sony’s hopes have been raised with a dramatic sale raise many game publishers such as Konami and Square Enix are still doubtful that the increase will be effective in the long run with comments such as “500 is still too expensive for many gamers.”
Sony also has an 80GB PS3 model scheduled for August, priced at $599
