Japan: Weekly PSP sales beat DS, PS3 on the rise

Media Create has revealed that weekly PlayStation Portable sales in Japan have surpassed the DS, after previously falling shy of outselling Nintendo’s handheld by only a few thousand units the week before.

The PSP sold a total of 72,528 machines for the week ended February 4, with the DS selling 67,472 units in the same period. The Wii managed to claim the top spot thanks to a boost in sales on the release of the highly anticipated Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Meanwhile, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 home consoles received a boost in sales, selling 41,796 and 12,115 units each, respectively. Both machines continue to outsell the Xbox 360 on a weekly basis.
