Speaking during Sony’s 2022 Business Segment Briefing earlier today, SIE boss Jim Ryan revealed that the format holder is confident that PS5 will prove to be its ‘biggest ever platform,”
According to Ryan, purchase interest in Sony’s latest home console is almost double that of the PS4 during the same period in its lifecycle. In addition, the PS5 also boasts the highest engagement ever across numerous key categories, with game monetisation 15% on the console than it was during the same point during PS4’s lifecycle.
Elsewhere, Ryan confirmed that China is now the 6th market for PlayStation, which is up on the 11th place achieved during roughly the same period during PS4 market life.

Looking ahead, the console maker is planning to increase production of the PS5, potentially shortening the gap with PS4 supply in its third year on the market.
Sony announced during its latest financial briefing earlier in the year that the PS5 has shipped 19.3 million units worldwide.
