Today the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences announced the nominations for its 16th Annual DICE (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Awards. The PlayStation 3 exclusive Journey has nabbed the most nominations – 11 to be exact – including Story, Innovation, Game Direction, Art Direction, Music, and Game of the Year.
Journey will be going up against The Walking Dead, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown for the Game of the Year award. The Walking Dead game received the second most nominations with eight and at third is Far Cry 3 with seven nominations.
The DICE Awards are highly-regarded and considered to be gaming’s equivalent to the Academy Awards. Like the Oscars, nominations are determined by the Academy’s panel of judges every year. The 16th Annual DICE Awards will take place on Feb. 7 at 10:30 pm EST and will be streamed live on Machinima.com. Chris Hardwick of The Nerdist and Talking Dead will host.
