The Just Cause series is an ideal fit for next-generation consoles, developer Avalanche Studios has said.
Speaking with Eurogamer, company boss man Christofer Sundberg commented, "There is a very strong emotional attachment to the franchise as it was created by me and my design team here so we would obviously like to see a very bright future for Just Cause.”
"In this day and age when everyone is struggling to make money, my opinion is that the JC IP is perfect for everything that next-gen has to offer."
The last entry in the Just Cause series was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360. Rumors have circulated that a third title is in development, with plans for a 2013/2014 release. Interestingly, this puts it neatly within the rumored launch period for Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles.
Avalanche Studios has two games in development at present, with one of these projects expected to be announced at E3 in June. The firm has also ramped up its recruitment drive with the intention of expanding operations in Stockholm and New York for work on current and next-gen titles.
The company’s most recent project was the vehicle-based shoot-’em-up Renegade Ops, released last year for PS3, PC and 360.
