The developer behind the Dark Souls franchise has been snapped up by Japanese firm Kadokawa.
According to Siliconera, Kadokawa, who has published a number of titles from Grasshopper Manufacture’s Goichi Suda including Lollipop Chainsaw, will acquire 80 per cent of From Software’s stock.
The deal will be finalized on May 21, though exact financial details have not been divulged at this time.
While primarily known as a publisher, Kadokawa is branching out as a developer too, and is currently working Natural Doctrine for PlayStation platforms.
“With a new system, from this point on, I believe we’ll be able to make newer and more in depth games,” commented From Software’s Naotoshi Zin.
