Ubisoft has revealed the Assassin’s Creed III Season Pass, which will net you discounted access to three episodic DLC packs that tell an alternate, post-Revolutionary War tale about the rise to power of King George Washington.
According to the official press release, well-known historical figure George Washington begins bending to the temptation of "infinite power", adopting the title King and establishing a reign that "leaves no one untouched". Freedom is soon ripped from the citizens of America, and only our intrepid hero Connor can put an end to King Washington’s tyranny.
The presence of evil King George Washington may seem antithetical to the franchise’s relatively faithful treatment of historical events, but Executive Producer Sebastian Puel defends this creative liberties taken with this DLC. "History is our playground – and AC teams have always loved playing with historical facts and their consequences as a way to better understand a time period," he said. "While Assassin’s Creed III concentrates on history as it happens, we wanted to take some liberties with this DLC and tell you how things ‘could have happened.’"
The Assassin’s Creed III Season Pass, which will retail on the PlayStation Network for $29.99, which also grant you access to two DLC packs with a multiplayer focus, including new maps and characters.
An approximate release window for each DLC hasn’t been given, but the Season Pass will be available for purchase up to six months after the game’s launch on October 30. In the meantime, you can pre-order Assassin’s Creed III via Sony’s Day 1 Digital program, and check out our recent coverage of the game here.
