The PlayStation 3 version of Goichi Suda’s Killer is Dead has entered the Japanese software charts with just over 17,000 units sold.
In total the slash-‘em-up moved 17,709 copies, entering the charts at no.5.
While a Top 5 position is hardly disastrous, the game has sold considerably fewer copies than Suda51’s latest effort, the cheerleader-zombie-masher, Lollipop Chainsaw. That title managed to move 53,347 units on launch on PS3 alone.
As for the Xbox 360 version of Killer is Dead, well, it’s telling that figures weren’t even recorded after the game limped in at no.36.
Killer is Dead is out later this month, so stay tuned for PSU.com’s full verdict. For those out of the loop, the over-the-top gory actioner takes place in the near future, with players controlling executioner Mondo Zappa, who is tasked with eliminating criminals and assassins across the globe.
Killer is Dead was developed by Grasshopper Manufacturer and will be published by Xseed in the U.S. and Deep Silver in the U.K.
