Square Enix has said that it’s not yet sure whether or not Kingdom Hearts 3 may receive a decorations update following their implementation in Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue on PlayStation 4.

Speaking to Famitsu magazine (via GamingBolt), Kingdom Hearts 3 Director, Tetsuya Nomura, explained some of the design process behind decorations, which were included in Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage, which forms part of Final Chapter Prologue.

The plans as well as all the choices were all by the staff. There were some designs I had to decline, but mostly all of it was implemented into the game.”

I’m still not sure,” Nomura-san replied, when asked if they may appear in KH3. “Since [KH0.2] is a short episode, the plan was to add them in to give some sort of additional content for replay value. As for [KH3], there are already plenty of other factors implemented for that sort of replay value, so it all depends on the state of development as time goes on.”

Kingdom Hearts 3 release date

Square Enix unveiled Kingdom Hearts 3 during Sony’s E3 2013 press event alongside Final Fantasy 15, though nearly three years on we’re still no closer to finding out when the game will hit stores. Recently, Square Enix indicated that the Disney-RPG sequel and Final Fantasy 7 Remake are still some way off, though considering it’s the 15th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts this year, we hope to find out more info at some point in 2017.

In the meantime, both Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 HD ReMIX will be released on PS4 in March 2017. Read our review of Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and check out the latest story info on Kingdom Hearts 3 while you’re at it.
