The secret goings-on at Konami and the Kojima-Gate mystery just keep getting stranger as we now learn that references to the iconic Metal Gear developer have started to appear back on Metal Gear Solid artwork.
Rumours began to spread last week of a bust-up between Konami and iconic director Kojima after references to his studio, Kojima Productions, were removed from the Konami website as well as from artwork depicting some of the games from the Metal Gear Solid series.
Kojima fell silent on Twitter and rumours that of a bust-up with Konami soon followed. Konami made a statement that skirted around the issue and claimed that it was due to a change in production organisation.
Right now, we still don’t know what’s happening with Kojima, but it’s interesting to see that his name has begun to appear again on some, but not all, of the game’s covers. Both the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D covers have been updated with Hideo Kojima’s name once more, though it’s still missing from the covers of The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.
