Konami Announced 3 Silent Hill Games At Once To Prove How Serious It Was About The IP, Says Series Producer

Motoi Okamoto, the series producer for Silent Hill, has revealed that publisher Konami announced three new entries in the franchise simultaneously back in 2022 in order to prove to fans it was serious about reviving the IP.

The first Silent Hill Transmission took place in October 2022, during which time Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill Townfall, and Silent Hill f were announced. Of those three games, only Silent Hill Townfall has yet to be released, with Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill f launching in October 2024 and September 2025, respectively.

This was seen as a major revival of the Silent Hill IP, which had remained on ice since 2012’s Silent Hill Downpour. Konami did at one point look to revive the franchise with Hideo Kojiam’s Silent Hills, but that was ultimately cancelled. Here’s what Okamoto-san had to say in a translated post on X:

Three years ago, in 2022, we announced three titles – Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall. We didn’t want to just announce a single remake to ‘test the waters’. We wanted people to feel how serious we were about reviving the series.

Developing a remake and a new title simultaneously naturally involves risks, but we wanted to convey our commitment first and foremost. Only when a new game is announced can the future of a series be seen.

Users won’t feel motivated to engage with an IP unless they can sense it has a future. If the company takes a wait-and-see approach, so will the players. The company needs to show how serious it is so that users can get genuinely excited. I think that’s only fair.

Looking ahead, Silent Hill Townfall is reportedly set to launch in March 2026, although there’s still not many details available on the game. Furthermore, Bloober Team is set to take on the challenge of remaking the original Silent Hill, which is now in full production.

Beyond that, Christophe Gans is helming a reboot of the Silent Hill movie franchise with Return to Silent Hill, which adapts the story of Silent Hill 2. The film is due out in cinemas in January 2026.
