Those of you with even a minute interest in gaming will be aware of the huge amount of promotion going in to Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online, as we quickly approach their release on June 12.
As many of you will know, the MGO Beta was made available for download earlier this week with the Store update. Although the actual beta is not due to go live until Monday April 21, we’ve been able to prepare ourselves by signing up for our Konami IDs and Game IDs.
Well, in theory anyway. It appears as though a lot of eager beta testers have not been able to register their IDs as the site has been seriously overloaded.
Brandon Laurino from Konami responded to the issue on PlayStation.Blog:
"Hi everyone! Due to incredibly high demand for the Metal Gear Online Beta test, we are aware that some of you are experiencing difficulties connecting to the Konami ID site.
We are adding more servers and working around the clock to resolve this issue. We thank you for your patience, and your participation in the Metal Gear Online Beta test."
The website itself, id.konami.net, has been updated with a post too:
"We regret to inform you that the site is currently busy due to high level of traffic creating difficulties in logging in. We would like to recommend that you try again at a different time. We would like to apologize for any inconveniences caused in the meantime."
Konami is probably expecting a backlash from the fans if things aren’t running smoothly by Monday, so let’s hope they’re able to resolve the problems.
