Just a mere three weeks after Konami announced Six Days in Fallujah, the first major game based on real events in the Iraq War, it’s abandoning the game.
Joystiq caught wind of Asahi‘s report, which claims that Konami bended to public pressure to drop the game.
"After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail," said a Konami representative, "we decided several days ago not to sell it."
It’s not like Konami should have expected any controversy — that would just be ridiculous. Seriously, how could Konami expect anyone to get upset about a video game based on the biggest battle in an ongoing war which is extremely controversial to begin with?
Oh, Konami, when you’re all grown up, you’ll understand.
