The Kylotonn Union has said that it is anticipating the announcement of major layoffs at the studio days after Nacon Connect.
As reported via STJV, the company revealed that a meeting was scheduled to take play on May 6 to inform its staff of “massive layoffs,” but was delayed until May 13. It has been suggested by the union that the delay was to avoid any negative press around Nacon Connect later today. Kylotonn Union added that the “situation follows years of warnings on the company’s financial situation, on the denial of democracy imposed on workers and their representatives, on the disorganised productions led by what we consider incompetent people, and on the catastrophic working conditions which damage our health.”
As a result, the company revealed that it is starting an open-ended strike from today that will last until May 11 at the least, or until the following demands have been met:
- That all layoffs are cancelled as long as there is no solid plan to ensure the company’s future
- The reactivation of the unannounced project, and its presentation to other publishers and investors
- The transition of al workers to the Engineers & Professionals status to boost their rights and protection against these shameful acts
- The contractual revision of the links between Kylotonn and Nacon, to put an end to the power of life and death the group has on our lives and work
Kylotonn is best known for its working on the World Rally Championship franchise, having taking the reins of the series beginning with 2015’s WRC 5 until 2021’s WRC 10. Following this, it released WRC Generations in 2022 and followed this up with Test Drive Unlimited in 2024, which was released under its KT Racing brand.
