Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has revealed that a return for the L.A. Noire franchise could be on the cards, stating during a chat with Variety’s Jenny Mass that the publishing giant is eager to do something with all their intellectual property going forward.
As reported by Game File’s Stephen Totilo, Zelnick was quizzed if the company was looking to do more with L.A. Noire, to which he responded, “Yes. You never know. The answer broadly is we’re looking at doing something in the future with all of our intellectual property, but nothing to announce.”
L.A. Noire was originally announced as a PS3-exclusive before eventually launching in 2011 for PS3, PC and Xbox 360, and takes place in Los Angeles a few years after the end of World War II. Players take on the role of Cole Phelps, a detective with the LA Police Department, as he takes on a number of cases across various bureaus such as Patrol, Traffic, Homicide, Vice, and Arson. The game employs MotionScan tech to realistically capture the facial details of its cast, allowing players to study a person’s reactions during interrogation segments to help them make the right call. Players can also explore the open-world LA to take on various side missions in the form of street crimes.
The game was remastered for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One in 2017 and received a VR supplement of missions titled L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files in December 2017.
