LEGO Dimensions brings toys to life with minifigures and Skylanders-inspired portal

A brand new LEGO adventure from Warner Bros. and TT Games called LEGO Dimensions will bring together multiple universes from both previous LEGO games and popular movies, including The Wizard of Oz, Back to the Future and The Lord of the Rings.

Due for release on September 27, 2015, LEGO Dimensions is taking inspiration from the popular Skylander series by allowing players to transport physical LEGO minifigures into the game via a LEGO Toy pad, available with the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack. The starter pack will include three minifigures, including LEGO Batman from DC Comics, LEGO Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings and Wyldstyle from The LEGO Movie, plus the LEGO Batmobile.

And, just like Skylanders, players will be able to buy additional packs to enhance and customise the experience with Level packs, Team packs and Fun packs on the agenda, offering characters, gadgets and vehicles – as well as new abilities and mission-based levels. Warner Bros. has given us a hint at some of the packs that will be available, including:

– Back to the Future Level Pack (Marty McFly)
– LEGO Ninjago Team Pack (Kai and Cole)
– DC Comics Fun Packs (Wonder Woman and Cyborg)
– The Lord of the Rings Fun Pack (LEGO Gollum, LEGO Gimli)
– The Wizard of Oz Fun Pack (LEGO Wicked Witch of the West)

More packs will be announced in due course.

Of course, we can also expect typical LEGO humour and the familiar block-smashing action that we’ve become accustomed to in LEGO games! There’s still many more packs, expansions and universes yet to be announced so stay tuned and check out the LEGO Dimensions trailer…

LEGO Dimensions will be available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and WiiU.
