Square Enix has dropped a fresh bunch of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII info on the EU PlayStation Blog alongside a new trailer.
The post reveals some details on a location known as Yusnaan, specifically The Slaughterhouse where combatants engage in nightly, brutal punch-ups in an arena.
In addition, Lightning Returns will also feature costume links with upcoming MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, due out on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. One such sync-up allows players to strap on Miqo’te’s clobber, as well as equip the Lominsan Cutlass and Escutcheon, allowing you to unleash rapid attacks against foes.
Finally, the post also drops a few interesting tidbits regarding the game’s battle system. For one, Lightning Returns allows you to disable specific parts of an enemy’s body, weakening them significantly and rewarding you with different items as a result.
A new counter attack system is also in place. With meticulous timing, you’ll be able to counter an enemy attack to negate it and follow up with a move of your own, potentially staggering your adversary. The flip side is it’ll use up a fair amount of ATB, and can only be utilized against physical attacks.
Check out the latest trailer below. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is scheduled to ship for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in February 2014.
