Square Enix revealed that the upcoming title Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will have the Japanese voice track as downloadable content, a first in the Final Fantasy franchise.
The Japanese audio DLC will be free for the first two weeks following the game’s release. After that time period, it will be available for a price that’s unknown at this time. Square Enix stated the DLC will "will also include more accurate lip syncing since the original English language version is different as well."
This is great news for subtitle fans like myself, who may have been dismayed when Sony Computer Entertainment Asia confirmed Lightning Returns’ Asian Version would not have English text, unlike how the previous two FF XIII games did.
Do you think more companies should offer the Japanese voice track to Western gamers? Should it be free or available as paid DLC? Discuss in the comments and keep checking back to PSU.
