Embracer Group is continuing its acquisition spree with plans to snap up Limited Run Games, the company founded by Josh Fairhurst and Douglas Bogart specialising in physical video game releases and direct-to-consumer channels.
Limited Run Games is also the owner of the Carbon Engine that specialises in porting retro games to moderne consoles. A price for the acquisition has not been disclosed.
Embracer Group CEO and Founder, Lars Wingefors, commented:
As an avid collector, I’ve admired Limited Run’s collectors’ editions. They’ve built a strong brand that resonates with players. We see opportunities for Limited Run to further grow their business with the Carbon Engine by bringing back classic games, and extend their footprint geographically through synergies with other companies within Embracer Group.
Limited Run Games has a great reputation for delivering limited edition Collector’s Editions for various titles, as well as physical versions of games that otherwise are only available as a digital download.
Earlier today it was announced that Embracer Group has entered into a deal to acquire the IP rights to the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
