LittleBigPlanet "Create" mode offline only at launch

According to a developer post at the Official PlayStation forums, the charmingly inventive LittleBigPlanet will hit the shelves without the option to build levels online with your mates.

"The ability to create with your friends online will come as part of the first major update after the game is released," commented the mysterious Sam_Protagonist. "Offline creating with up to 4 people on one PlayStation 3 however is available right from the get go."

"The next question will undoubtedly be ‘when is the first update due’ and right now there is no specific time set at the moment," he went on. "However with the game having gone gold, the team at Media Molecule are already hard at work on content for the game after its release, with online multiplayer creating top of the list."

Ardent fans first began to suspect something was up after the following appeared on the official LittleBigPlanet site: "To get you started we are already hard at work on some cool ideas for the way gamers can interact, including the ability to create levels together online in a multiplayer jamming mode!"

LittleBigPlanet, as you all should know, is due out next month exclusively for Sony’s fat black titan. Dribbling with anticipation? We’re practically drowning in the stuff.
