Deadline has reported that Presence star Callina Liang has been cast in the role of iconic brawler Chun-Li in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie.
Legendary Pictures hasn’t officially confirmed Liang’s casting at the time of writing and declined to comment on Deadline’s story, although hopefully we’ll hear something soon. We know that Street Fighter will include an all-star cast featuring Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck, with Kitao Sakurai attached to direct the movie.

Few details are available on the Street Fighter movie yet, although this isn’t the first time Capcom’s fighting game franchise has been adapted for the big screen. Back in 1994, Jean-Claude Van Damme fronted a live-action Street Fighter movie that included Kylie Minogue and Raul Julia, and despite being panned by critics at the time has gone on to become something of a cult classic.
Perhaps the most egregious example is 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li staring Kristin Kreuk, Neal McDonough and Chris Klein however, which was a box office bomb and was just an out right terrible film.
