Electronic Entertainment Expose [E3] 2008 News

Live @ E3 2008 Blog

9:00 AM: Sorry for the lack of an update yesterday guys. You have no idea how tiring covering this on your own is. However, I will have over 10 previews for you to read by Sunday night and a full E3 Recap for Monday evening. So hopefully that’ll make up for it.

I plan on having you guys covered on such titles as Stormrise, Borderlands, BioShock, NBA2K9, Fracture, NHL2K9, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Bolt, Pure, Killzone 2, Resistance 2 (Closed door stuff), Project Origin, LittleBigPlanet, AND Resident Evil 5.

These will all be up by Sunday. I plan on having two to three for you tonight, four for you tomorrow, then four more on Sunday (a couple of these will be joint features).

I’ll be getting on my plane soon, so if you guys have a specific three you’d like covered for tonight, just leave it in the comments section and I’ll get to it first.

10:30 PM: I just now arrived home from the airport. LAX had to shut down a ton of planes because apparently there was a TSA breach of some sort. This caused a ton of planes to be delayed. I should have been home about 5-6 hours ago with more than enough time to give you guys some more hands-on to read. However, obviously, that didn’t work out too well.

I’m pretty sick right now (head cold), but I plan on starting to write from the moment I wake up tomorrow until about 6-7 PM CST. So I’ll have about 6-7 previews done tomorrow to make up for the delay today.

Sorry guys and bear with me.

8:30 AM: Sitting in the media lounge so I can actually access the internet. Sorry about yesterday guys, I don’t get it but a lot of the rooms wouldn’t allow random wi-fi access like I expected them to. I’m about to go check out Project Origin and then head over to finally get a real look into the world if inFamous. I’m pretty excited for it.

I’ll also be checking out Pure, Fallout 3, BioShock, and a couple of other titles out today. If I can get a moment to breathe, I’ll definitely update you guys here.

8:40 AM: Alright guys, I’ve checked in and did a quick tour of the Into the Pixel’s art gallery. They had some amazing images for Fallout 3, Wet, and flOw. I was really blown away by how great they were.  Anyways, I snuck into the concourse for a quick peak and then left…setups look real nice…saw Square Enix playing an Infinite Undiscovery video — looked amazing (sorry guys)…. I’m sitting in the media lobby awaiting 9:00 AM to check out Project Origin and LEGO: Batman for you guys. The Sony conference follows directly after that, so I won’t be able to post some initial impressions until a little bit later, but I will do some live blogging during the press conference.

7:00 PM: So the day has come to a close and overall it was really rewarding. I got some hands-on time with LEGO: Batman (preview to come) and I rescheduled time with Project Origin to tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM. After that I hung out at the PlayStation conference drinking some alcohol and eating some good food before the event. Though the conference was pretty standard, the atmosphere and energy of the room was a great feeling to be surrounded by.

Moving on from there I got the chance to check out Stormrise (RTS) from SEGA. I am not an RTS fan at all but this game literally blew me away. You can really tell they’ve put work into it. I’ll be creating a preview of this for you guys as well. From here I moved on to the Ubisoft conference where Prince of Persia was demoed on a PlayStation 3 console (for once) and it looks absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t believe how blown back I was with the elements of that title. After getting to see some Hell’s Highway stuff, Ubisoft treated us to the debut trailer of I Am Alive which looks like it has potential.

I then got some hands-on time with Rock Band 2 (preview coming) and had a blast jamming with that. Then I lined up for Capcom’s press conference, but the room was overloaded so missed out on that guys, sorry. Then I went back downstairs and got some time in with Valhalla Knights 2 and LittleBigPlanet… I’ll be doing a preview of LBP after my extensive hands-on come Thursday.

I’m finally back to my hotel, tired and exhausted. I have a ton of stuff to type up tonight for you guys, so I’m going to get on that right now.

12:45 PM: Jim Lee is a huge gamer – he was the first one to get some random item on Everquest. Rock on!

12:47 PM: First DC Universe Online trailer in progress, it looks pretty cool. World looks like it’s going for photorealism, while characters look a little cartoony.

1:03 PM: The game is called MAG (Massive Action Game). It supports whopping 256-player battles. Take that Resistance 2! More details in a moment.

1:05 PM: Wow. They’re showing a trailer an it looks beyond stunning. Killer-app material. MAG is a sweeping battle experience using only real players broken down into squads. Character advancement allows players to fine tune their characters to meet their playing style. Large scale environments, multiple weapons (rocket launchers, assault rifles), plus vehicles with mounted machine guns. "MAG will deliver an intense and long lasting experience unique to PlayStation 3."

1:09 PM: That’s it folks, an end to what I consider a solid press conference. Of course God of War III looks awesome, but MAG was a surprise. Resistance is on the PSP as well. Thanks for reading.

Hey guys, I’m in Los Angeles right now preparing for the long three days ahead. I landed in L.A. and was greeted with the terrible news about Final Fantasy XIII which led to instant disappointment. I’m not in the dumps yet, but I’ll be looking forward to Sony’s official press conference tomorrow. I’ll be blogging live from the event to keep you guys in the loop and how I feel about the things I’m checking out from booth to booth.

I’ll be updating this as the day goes on with timestamps so you can check out if I’ve added anything new. I’ll also be answering questions via the comment section, so if you have any questions about things I’m discussing or checking out at the time, feel free to leave them and I’ll get to them when I get a free moment.
