Man stabbed and robbed of GTA V shortly after launch

A 23-year-old man from London was stabbed as he made his way home from the midnight launch of Grand Theft Auto V.

Robbers stole his copy of the game, a watch and a mobile phone as the man made his way home from ASDA in the early hours of yesterday morning.

“We were called at 1.20am to Princes Avenue, Colindale. A 23-year-old man was shopping, then on his way back home he was hit with a brick and stabbed,’ said a Scotland Yard spokesman, who confirmed that the man was taken to a local hospital and was in a stable condition.

Stores across the country opened their doors at midnight on September 17 to allow eager GTA fans to pick up the latest title from Rockstar Games. The mature-rated title has been rated highly by reviewers, scoring the highest aggregate review score on Metacritic and putting it on par with the previous game, Grand Theft Auto IV.

GTA V is expected to net Rockstar approximately $1 billion in revenue and cost over £170 million to develop.
