The Xbox Store has seemingly leaked the release date for Marathon via a new preorder trailer for the game, which was spotted by Reddit user TheJuicebab. According to the trailer, Marathon is “coming March 5, 2026.”
Moderators have removed the post but the trailer itself has been shared many times across social media and other sites, so presumably it’s the real deal. Still, an official release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, so keep that in mind, who preorders still haven’t been detailed.
Bungie announced in December that Marathon will be released in March 2026 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The studio has made a number of key tweaks to the game following its Alpha phase, such as implementing proximity chat, solo queue, and emphasising the “dark, gritty and grounded sci-world” that Marathon inhabits.
Marathon sees players working as crews of three as they comb the lost colony on Tau Ceti IV for powerful weapons and equipment, battling against AI security forces, otherworldly foes, and rival Runner teams also competing for loot. However, while death is pretty much a given in this cut-throat world, you’ll return to keep everything you previously scavenged, allowing you to grow in power and fill your vault during matches.
