Mark Healey Says Media Molecule’s New Project Is ‘More Of A Game Than A Creative Tool’

Mark Healey, the co-founder of LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule, has revealed during an interview with Ben Hanson on MinnMax that the studio’s next project will be more of a game than a creative tool.

While Healey departed Media Molecule last year, he was able to offer some brief insight into what they’re coming up with next, as well as addressing concerns about the company’s future in wake of mass industry layoffs.

I don’t know exactly what state their project is in now, I don’t think it’s secret news that they’re working on a new IP, for example. I would dare to go as far as saying it’s more of a game than a creative tool, from what I understand about it. Sony has still got a lot of faith in Media Molecule, at the very least they’re going to get to make this game.

A job listing posted by Media Molecule just last month revealed that the company’s new project is going to be a new IP, not based on an existing franchise. Its most recent title, Dreams, was definitely more of a creative tool than a traditional gaming experience, unlike LittleBigPlanet, which while offering creative opportunities was also a brilliant platformer in its own right.
