Mass Effect 3 will not support local co-op for the game’s multiplayer component, BioWare has confirmed.
Speaking in an interview on the BioWare Blog, Mass Effect 3 producer Jesse Houston said that while splitscreen/LAN action won’t be supported in the sci-fi sequel, “it is definitely on the table as something we might add.”
Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode is known as Galaxy at War, and allows gamers to team up and tackle a variety of special missions that are able to influence the outcome of the single-player campaign.
A number of different races – including Asari, Krogans and Turians – will be playable in the multiplayer mode, though no characters from the main story will appear.
Mass Effect 3 is due out in March 2012 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
