Electronic Arts revealed during its Q3 financial call overnight that it expects Mass Effect Andromeda to sell around three million copies during its first week alone.
Given the fact the upcoming sci-fi RPG releases during the tail end of the FY 2017, investors have been questioning whether the lion’s share of revenue will be calculated during the new financial year or not. In response, Blake Jorgensen, EA’s Chief Financial Officer, said that the publishing giant expects around 30-50 percent of Andromeda’s lifetime sales to come during the fourth quarter.
For reference, Mass Effect 3 sold over six million copies worldwide, with Jorgensen believing Andromeda will shift around three million before the end of EA’s financial quarter. Lifetime sales were not mentioned, however.
Mass Effect Andromeda release date
Mass Effect Andromeda is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in the U.S. on March 21 and in Europe on March 24. The game takes place around 600 years after the events of the original trilogy, and sees players controlling one of the Ryder siblings; a pathfinder tasked with scouring the titular Andromeda galaxy to find a new home for humanity.
In keeping with the series’ tradition, Andromeda is set to feature plenty of copulation between the various races, and there’s more emphasis on exploration this time around thanks to the re-introduction of the Nomad, which is basically a flashier version of the Mako from the original Mass Effect. Andromeda is also unlikely to be the final installment in the series, so rest easy.
