Mac Walters, who served as Mass Effect series project director and lead writer, has been named as the CEO of Worlds Untold, a brand new studio established at NetEase Games.
Based in Vancouver, Worlds Untold’s mission statement is to create new IP with “depth and possibility that can’t be contained in a single game, or even a single medium.” The company is already working on its debut project, described as a near-future action adventure game that takes place in a “breathtaking world filled with mystery and exploration.”
Speaking in a press release, Walters, who has over 20 years of experience in the video games industry, commented:
We’re creating incredible and meaningful stories that we believe are best told and experienced through play. We are starting by crafting worlds that we all dream of discovering and then will put the player in the leading role of the most unforgettable adventures. The team at NetEase Games shares our vision and passion to utilize leading edge technology to create the best possible new games. Their teams’ support and creative freedom affords us the opportunity to deliver on that vision.
Worlds Untold also features a number of other key staff including Sotaro Tojima, Elizabeth Lehtonen, Ramil Sunga, and Ben Goldstein.
