Hideo Kojima has officially announced Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, the next instalment in the critically-acclaimed stealth-action franchise, at a special 25th anniversary event in Japan today.
The game was shown off running on Kojima-san’s new Fox Engine, with Twitter chatter coming out of the event claiming parts of the demo were shown in real-time, which managed to leave many jaws well and truly floored.
According to reports, Ground Zeroes was running on current-gen PC hardware, and culminated in the main protagonist being airlifted to safety via chopper as Ride of the Valkyries played on. Perhaps most interesting however, is the fact it’s an open-world title.
Images via Kotaku have also shed some light on the central character, who as speculated is none other than Big Boss, aka Naked Snake. Check out a shot below, where you can just about discern his trademark eye-patch and the Militaires Sans Frontieres logo.
Kojima-san also confirmed that a movie adaptation of Metal Gear Solid is in the works, which you can read in our earlier report here.
