Metal Gear Solid V creator blown away by ‘deep and detailed’ weapons system

Hideo Kojima has admitted he was blown away by the detailed weapons system implemented into Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Speaking in the latest episode of Kojima Station (via metalgearinformer), the Metal Gear maestro, alongside co-worker, Shinkawa-san, said that the team is currently polishing The Phantom Pain prior to its fall release.

Kojima-san said that the stealth-action title will maintain the same attention to detail that its predecessors have become known for, including a ‘deep and detailed weapons system.’

It seems this was Shinkawa-san’s baby, however, as Kojima-san himself wasn’t that fussed about making the weapons system as detailed as they have become. Nonetheless, the Metal Gear creator was admittedly blown away by the end result.

In terms of customisation, not only will players be able to paint their Mother Base to their liking, but also the colour of available vehicles. Custom emblems can also be cobbled together by the player and used to pimp out your suit, vehicles, flags, and Mother Base’s exterior walls.

Elsewhere, Snake will be able to lug a ballistic shield around with him, which can also deflect bullets when he’s wearing it on his back. In combat, you can use a firearm in conjunction with this valuable tool to fend off enemy attacks.

Kojima-san wrapped by saying this is the Metal Gear title he has been hoping to make for a number of years, but due to technical limitations, wasn’t able to do so until now with the Fox Engine.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is due out on September 1, 2015 on PS4, PS3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Check out the Day-One and Collector’s Editions here.
