Digital Foundry has revealed in its ongoing PS5 Pro coverage that the console’s Game Boost mode has essentially fixed the frame rate issues associated with Metaphor ReFantazio without any need for an enhancement patch.
Oliver Mackenzie revealed that he tested Metaphor ReFantazio on the PS5 Pro, which he had previously speculated would see some big improvements on Sony’s high-end console.
It’s basically a locked 60 FPS now, it’s a very smooth experience even in areas where the base console is really struggling. The worst I saw was in a spot where the base console was 44 FPS, 43 FPS, PS5 Pro was like 55, 56, 57, and that’s a pretty extreme scenario, so even without VRR this game’s totally saved.

The PS5 Pro is out today and the Boost Mode is one of its major features, able to improve the performance of games without any need for a patch. Yesterday DF reported that Gran Turismo 7 is able to reach native 4K/120 FPS on the PS5 Pro without any Enhanced patch thanks to Game Boost, and the feature is also used to improve stability of more than 8,500 backwards compatible PS4 games.
