Mewgenics Is coming to PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on September 8, 2026, Nicalis and Edmund McMillen have announced.
Originally eleased for the PC in February 2026, Mewgenics takes the form of a tactical RPG life simulation that has players breeding cats, which then take on various character classes and are then sent off on adventures based on various tactical combat scenarios on procedurally generated grids. Players are assigned a team of four felines at the beginning of the game, with classes including hunter, mage, tank and fighter, while each cat has varying statistics.
Combat takes place on a procedurally-generated grid with a 2D isometric perspective, with players required to dispatch all foes before advancing. Battles are also heavily influenced by the environment, such as weather and foliage, while another key mechanic is breeding. Two cats in the same room are able to mate, breeding a new cat that inherits the traits of their parents, which can be used in future runs. However, inbreeding can see offspring with birth defects, negatively affecting their performance.
Mewgenics launches for PS5 on Sept. 8.
