Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst could be Mirror’s Edge 2, new trademark filing reveals

We thoroughly expect Electronic Art’s new Mirror’s Edge game to appear at E3 2015 next week, but could the title that’s simply been known as Mirror’s Edge 2 actually turn out to be Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst?

A new trademark, discovered by an eagle-eyed NeoGAF member, shows that the name Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst was filed this week. There’s no entry on the description of the filing so we can’t be confident that it relates to the PS4 version of Mirror’s Edge 2, but we definitely like the name.

During its recent quarterly report, EA confirmed that the Mirror’s Edge game will launch in early 2016, but what’s interesting about the document that the developer sent out is that it doesn’t name the sequel to 2008’s action-adventure platformer as Mirror’s Edge 2 – it’s simply called Mirror’s Edge – suggesting that a name hasn’t yet been set in stone. It looks like we’ll have to wait until E3 next week to find out for sure!
