Little Orbit is collaborating with author Brandon Sanderson to produce a video game prequel to fantasy book trilogy Mistborn.
The project, an RPG titled Mistborn: Birthright, is currently in development for PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox 360 and Mac formats and will be released in fall 2013.
For the uninitiated, Sanderson has worked on popular iPhone title Infinity Blade 2, and also penned the novel Infinity Blade: Awakening. Little Orbit has only been kicking around for two years, and has so far made Sherlock Holmes Mysteries for iPhone and Busy Scissors for DS and Wii.
Sanderson will cobble together a fresh narrative for Birthright, which takes place hundreds of years before the events of the first book. The game will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
Set in a dark and Gothic world, Birthright will pit players in the shoes of an “arrogant young nobleman” by the name of Fendin ‘Fiddle’ Fathwell, who must wield a magic force known as Allomancy to pummel the evil forces threatening to wipe out his family.
