Actor J.K. Simmons has been confirmed by Ed Boon at San Diego Comic-Con as the voice of Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1.
Omni-Man will be joining the Peacemaker and Homelander as guest characters in the upcoming brawler, with Simmons having previously voiced Omni-Man in Amazon Prime’s animated series Invincible. Peacemaker and Homelander were both heavily rumoured to be appearing in the NetherRealm-developed fighting game prior to its official reveal, so it’s good to finally get confirmation on that.
The studio has been busy unveiling numerous characters for Mortal Kombat 1 in recent weeks, including Smoke and Rain, while Cyrax, Frost, and Sektor will be appearing as Kameo Fighters. If you’ve been living under a rock recently, these are special characters that jump into the action to aid your main character in a brawl, and we’ve already seen that classic-look Kano and Sonya Blade will be among the Kameo Fighters.
Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled for release on September 19, 2023 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
