Jeremy Slater has told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s already started cooking up a script for a third Mortal Kombat movie, despite the second entry in the rebooted series having only just arrived in cinemas
“We are not green-lit for a third movie yet. When [MK II] test screening numbers came back… they commissioned me to start working on III, and I’m finishing a second draft right now,” he said.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard about Mortal Kombat III being in the pipeline. Back in October last year, it was reported during New York Comic Con that Slater was returning as screenwriter on a third movie in the series.
Mortal Kombat II is now in cinemas worldwide and brings back a number of major characters from the original film, including Cole Young, Jaxx, Sonya, Liu Kang, Scorpion, and Raiden, while introducing Johnny Cage, Kitana, Baraka, Jade, and Shao Kahn.
