Australia’s new R18+ rating may facilitate the long-awaited release of Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition in the territory.
The bloody beat-‘em-up, originally released in 2011, was banned from sale Down Under due to its violent content. Back then of course, Australia lacked a rating higher than MA15+ for videogames.
However, a representative for Warner Bros told GameSpot that the title is being re-submitted for a successful release under the R18+ category. The Komplete Edition offers the full game plus all existing downloadable content.
“Warner Bros Entertainment Australia will be submitting the Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for classification under the new R18+ classification category,” the rep said.
The 18+ rating kicked off on January 1, with Wii U title Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge being the first game to fall under the category.
