Mortal Kombat Movie Reboot Delayed Until The Pandemic Has Subsided

The upcoming Mortal Kombat movie reboot has been delayed indefinitely until cinemas reopen as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The film had previously been scheduled to arrive in theatres in March 2021.

Mortal Kombat Movie Reboot Release Postponed

Speaking on Twitter in response to a fan, Todd Garner, the film’s producer, revealed that the March window has now been removed from schedule, and we won’t get a look at the trailer anytime soon, either.

Well, I thought by the casts’ social media you would’ve figured out we’re shooting a few more days. We’d always planned for it & thought we’d do it in March. The pandemic had other plans. We won’t have a release date for the movie until theaters re-open. Same for trailer.

The Mortal Kombat movie reboot features a whole new cast and storyline, and is directed by Simon McQuoid. It’s not the only video game movie reboot happening either, as Sony Pictures is working on a fresh take on the Resident Evil series, too.

The original Mortal Kombat film was released in 1995 and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.
