According to BloodyDisgusting.com, the planned reboot of the Mortal Kombat film franchise is to centre around a supermarket clerk who discovers he has super powers. Yes, you read right.
The website claims that the fighting flick will be directed by Kevin Tancharoen, who previously helmed the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series and Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short. Oh, and he also did Glee: The 3D Concert Movie.
"The live-action reboot will follow a lowly unlucky supermarket employee who discovers that he has out of this world powers and must decide between good and evil, even though the evil side has helped him discover his true potential and who he really is,” it reads.
The original 1995 Mortal Kombat film was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who would later go on to direct the Resident Evil films. A sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, followed in 1997, though it lacked contributions from Anderson and much of the original cast, and received a critical mauling upon release.
We’ll have more on the new Mortal Kombat movie as it breaks.
