A report on Gearnuke has found that the PS4 version of Mortal Kombat X has a slight advantage in terms of visuals over its Xbox One counterpart.
The investigation was prompted after comments from series co-creator, Ed Boon, who said last year that the brawler was using a customised version of the Unreal Engine 3 performing at 1080p/60fps. However, following the game’s release, Gearnuke has found that the PS4 version is the only one actually hitting that mark.
By comparision, the Xbox One release of Mortal Kombat X, which hit stores on Tuesday, runs at a sub-1080p. To be more specific, the game’s vertical resolution on Microsoft’s format is 1080p, but the horizontal resolution is being scaled up from 1360p.
The PS4 edition has horizontal at 1920 with no scaling, however, resulting in overall better image quality. Not that anyone can really tell the difference at a glance, though.
