In the aftermath of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s decision to indefinitely delay the release of MotorStorm: Apocalypse in the U.K. earlier this week, PlayStation 3 promos and leaked retail copies have sprung up on eBay.
On eBay’s U.K. site, there are currently six PS3 promos for MotorStorm: Apocalypse up for auction, one of which has a £74 bid with two days left until the bidding ends. A retail version has also leaked onto eBay, with the seller setting a starting price of £85, or offering a “buy it now” price of £150. With only a few copies out there, and plenty of demand for the highly-anticipated racer, it will be interesting to see just how much people will pay to get their hands on the game early. (PSU does not in any way support these actions)
MotorStorm: Apocalypse was initially delayed only in Japan after an earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale caused a tsunami that devastated parts of the country. As reported by PlayStation Universe earlier this week, MotorStorm: Apocalypse features a series of races that take place while natural disasters, including an earthquake and a tsunami, tear up the environment around the competitors.
Due to the unfortunate timing of the MotorStorm: Apocalypse launch, which was due for release in the U.K. this Friday, Sony also made the decision to delay the game indefinitely in the region, immediately banning retailers from selling the title to consumers. While Sony is set to lose out considerably by putting a halt on the release of MotorStorm: Apocalypse, it looks as though some people are hoping to capitalize on the delay.
SCEE has yet to confirm a new release date for MotorStorm: Apocalypse in the U.K., and we’re currently uncertain as to whether the North American launch, set for 12 April, will also be delayed.
