Talent from the development teams that worked on Motorstorm and Driveclub have founded a new independent studio called Wushu Studios.

Based in Liverpool, the team consists of founder Alan McDermott, design director Nigel Kershaw and art director Stuart Trevor (formerly of Evolution Studios). All three have vast experience working with PlayStation games.

According to the press release, the team wanted to move away from “the grind” of AAA games to work on creating new ‘fun' experiences for gamers.

Wushu Studios formed by PlayStation veterans

Wushu Studios is currently working on a new IP that utilizes Unreal Engine 4. Though they're not yet ready to reveal that game in full, we do know that it will be set in a sci-fi universe.

“Our core team at Wushu have worked together closely on numerous projects over the years so there was no downtime in figuring out how to work together, we just fell straight into a groove kicking around game ideas that appealed to us as players and developers”, says studio lead Alan McDermott.

Between the team, they've worked on the Motorstorm, Driveclub Dark Souls and Saints Row franchises as well as many other popular titles.

We're expecting to hear more about their new IP later this year, which we understand will definitely be launching on PS4 (and possibly other platforms)!
