Rockstar Games and Mulholland Books have joined forces with a number of renowned thriller writers to publish a series of short stories based on various characters and cases plucked from the hotly-anticipated L.A. Noire.
L.A. Noire: The Collected Stories will be released on June 6 via all major eBook retailers, and includes works penned by respected authors such as Megan Abbott, Lawrence Block, Joe Lansdale and Joyce Carol Oates among others.
Select stories will be made up for grabs via numerous media outlets prior to L.A. Noire’s launch later this month. In the meantime, be sure to have a gander at a teaser from Megan Abbott’s “The Girl” here.
Rockstar Games founder, Sam Houser, commented, “L.A. Noire draws on a rich history of not just film, but also great crime literature for inspiration”.
“Using the game’s world as a springboard, we worked with the genre’s best writers to create stories that lived up to the finest traditions of crime fiction.”
“We are thrilled to be embarking on a creative partnership with the team at Rockstar Games,” added Michael Pietsch, Publisher of Little, Brown and Company. “The possibilities for cross-promotions of this nature, encouraging gamers to read and readers to play games are huge. We’re looking forward to a new frontier of book publishing possibilities and see Rockstar as an ideal partner.”
L.A. Noire is due out in the U.S. on May 17, with a European launch scheduled for May 20.
