MW2 is longest unbeaten chart topper in five years

Stellar shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has successfully topped the British All Format Charts for the eight consecutive week, becoming the UK’s longest unbeaten chart topper since Need for Speed: Underground 2.

Impressively, the game achieved this feat despite sales dropping off 41 percent from the previous week, leaving Assassin’s Creed II to pick up the scraps in second place. Sales of the original Modern Warfare have also spiked on the back of its mammoth selling sequel, with the game peaking at number 13 this past week.

The general public aren’t the only ones lapping up Modern Warfare 2 – we were equally impressed with it, awarding the game a score of 9.5 in our review last November. Furthermore, the shooter also reached number two in our Top Ten PS3 Games of 2009 feature published on New Year’s Eve.
